Timing And Setting Of Comber Machine

Setting of the machine is the basic requirement of the machine. It is use to run the machine in smooth condition and give the best result.

setting are divide into the two major categories:
1. Basic Setting
2. Variable Setting

1. Basic Setting :  this type of setting does not effected by material and spinning plan. It also called universal setting of the machine. It is not change after material or hank.

basic setting are :

 i.) Circular Comb:
  • Setting Done At  =   38 Index
  • The distance between the top of the
needle bar and the periphery of the
    deteching roller
    =      40 mm
ii.) The Distance Between Nipper Lip To Comb Needles :
  •  Feeler Gauge use to change the setting
  • The space between needle tip and nipper lip  = 0.3 mm to 0.6 mm
iii.) Adjustment of The Circular Comb :
  • Index   = 38
  • Waste % should not increase by more  0.2 to 1.1 otherwise long fibre go to the waste.
iv.) Setting of Nippers :
  • Index  = 24
  • Gauge  = 6.2 mm
  • Setting check between the front edge of the nipper and the deteching roller.

2. Variable Setting : This type of setting change after change in  material and hank.

It is depend upon the :
  • length of  the cotton fibre
  • Wt. of lap gm./mtr.
  • Waste %
  • Hank of delivered Sliver
  • Output Kg./ Hr.
Following setting will be change after material change in the machine :

i. Waste Setting :

Setting
Waste %
Deteching setting increase 1 mm
2 - 2.5 %
Ratchet wheel on feed roller increase of 1 tooth
0.5 – 1 %
Forward to Backward Feed
4 – 6 %
Increase depth of penetration of top comb by  0.5 mm
2 %
Reduce 2 needle bar
1.5 – 2 %

ii. Detechment Setting :

Index
Deteching Distance
5
16 mm
11
22 mm

iii. Change Ratchet Teeth On Feed Roller :

a. Forward Feed :

Feed In mm
Lap Feed Change Wheel

b. Backward Feed :

Ratchet Wheel Teeth
Feed In mm
Lap Feed Change Wheel

iv. Feed Type :
  • Index = 24
a. Forward Feed : This type of feed is used to :
  • Medium and short staple fibre
  • 6 - 18 % Waste %
  • Ratchet and pawl use for setting
b. Backward Feed :
  • Long staple cotton and super combed yarn
  • 14 - 25 % Waste
  • Halfman gear use to perform this setting

v. Top Comb Setting:
  • Index =  24
  • Setting = -2,-1.5,-1,-0.5,0,0.5,1
  • generally 0.5 to 1 are used  ( waste range is 6 - 12 %)
