Fabric Weight Calculation Formula

Technical Words:-

v Reed Count :- No. of dents per 2 inch.

v Dent :- The gap between two wire of the reed.

v Ends :- Warp thread.

v Pick :- Weft thread.

v EPI :- No. of end per inch or Ends per inch.

v PPI :- No. of picks per inch or Picks per inch.

v Finish EPI :- No. of end per inch in Finish Fabric.

v Finish PPI :- No. of picks per inch in Finish Fabric.

v Tape Length :- It is the length of the warp which is used to produce a fabric having particular length.

Formulas :-

Problem:

Q. To find the GSM of the fabric using following particular?
    EPI = 110                                PPI=90
    Warp Crimp% = 8%              Weft Crimp % = 2%
Warp Count = 2/40 Ne              Weft Count = 20Ne   


Solution :-
1.     Warp Weight :-         0.59*110*39.37*(1+8/100)               =    138gm
                                                            20

2.     Weft Weight :-      0.59*90*39.37*(1+2/100)                =     106.61gm
                                                             20
Total Weight = Warp Weight + Weft Weight

                        =    138+106.61   = 244gm
