Find Out The Count Of Yarn By Knowles’s Balance.

OBJECT:

            Find out the count of yarn by knowles’s balance.

INSTRUMENT/TOOLS:

            Wrap reel, Knowles balance etc.

WORKING PRINCIPLE:

            Knowles balance is used for directly determining the yarn count. The balance uses the relation between weight and length in English count system.

PROCEDURE:

•        Measure the yarn sample of 120 yards on wrap reel i.e.Make a lea.

•        Make 10 leas  for proper accuracy in count.

•        Level the balance by pendulum and pointer should be same axis.

•        check the balancing. pointer should be on zero.

•        Put the lea on right side of balance and put the lettered weight on left side.

•        With help of rider on the beam ,  balance the lea and note the reading on scale.

•        English Yarn count is directly obtained on scale against the center line of rider.

 RESULT:

            English cotton count of lea ……………………………………

            Standard deviation …………………………………….

            Coefficient of variation …………………………………………………..

PRECAUTIONS:

•        Maintain proper tension on wrap reel by maintaining uniform speed.

•        Level the balance properly and set it to zero error.

Balance should be adjusted on off condition
