OBJECT:
Calculate the twist per inch& twist
multiplier of double yarn by straightened fibre method.
INSTRUMENT/TOOLS:
Double yarn twist tester etc.
WORKING PRINCIPLE:
On
untwisting a double yarn the two strands of yarn get straightened and separate
into two parallel yarns , this gives the
no of turns in the yarn.
PROCEDURE:
•
Take a
sample of yarn and find tex count.
•
Fix the
length of 10 inch on gauge.
•
Put the
half of tex count as tension as dead weight.
•
Clamp the
yarn between tensioning arrangement , fixed jaw and rotating jaw.
•
Now rotate
the rotating jaw till the both yarnsparallel.
•
Put the
needle in between strands of yarn and untwist it till all twists are removed.
•
Note the
reading on counter and repeat the same process for 20 samples.
FORMULA:
Twist per inch
= total revolutions
Length of yarn x 2
RESULT:
TWIST PER INCH

DEVIATION……………………………………………………..
COEFFICIENT OF VARIATION

PRECAUTIONS:
•
Maintain
proper tension on yarn clamped.
•
Set the
counter to zero error before use.
•
Check that
yarn is properly clamped between fixed jaw and rotating jaw.
